MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the "You'll Probably Agree" podcast talking "The Lion King" and Disney's future

Mike Crowley of the steaming-ahead “You’ll Probably Agree” brand welcomed yours truly back on the podcast microphone again, this time to talk about The Lion King. Neither one of our childhoods were married to the 1994 original, but we recognize its greatness while questioning and critiquing the new Jon Favreau visual achievement. Mike and I gaze ahead into the Disney crystal ball and wonder where they are heading with these reimaginings that border on creative bankruptcy. Fire up the audio! MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the "You'll Probably Agree" podcast talking "Toy Story 4" and 1989's "Batman"

Let me be either the first or the next person to tell you how cool it is to talk to Mike Crowley about movies. Mike has recently revamped his “You’ll Probably Agree” brand and platform to include written and podcast content to go with his videos. This past week, Mike wanted to share a podcast discussion on Toy Story 4, especially with our differing takes between his positive one and my internet-reviled “rotten” tag. We also went from one box of toys to another to reminisce about the 30th anniversary of Tim Burton’s classic Batman. This was a damn good time with a damn good dude!

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the "Kicking the Seat" podcast talking "Toy Story 4"

It with Ian Simmons of the Kicking the Seat podcast where I no longer feel like an island after watching and review Toy Story 4. He and I sat next to each other at the screening and both shared a great deal of chagrin afterwards. We put that together for his latest podcast episode against the positive interventions of David Fowlie of Keeping It Reel and Emmanuel Noisette of E-Man’s Movie Reviews. In addition to talking out the highs and lows of the movie, I was invited to share my experience this past week of being one of the extremely few “Rotten” Rotten Tomatoes reviews for Toy Story 4. Great conversations here for my 20th appearance on Ian’s fine sh Give it a listen!

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Guest on the "Kicking the Seat" podcast talking "Men in Black: International"

Three-fourths of the “comic counsel” crew of Ian' Simmons’ Kicking the Seat podcast came together to talk after F. Gary Gray’s Men in Black: International. Emmanuel Noisette of E-Man’s Movie Reviews, Ian, and myself vented on how this summer is not making lemonade with the lemons that have been rolling through this summer. Our surprise and exasperation really shows from the retread tone and mostly vacant fun of this franchise reboot. Listen to our podcast session and commit it to memory!

MOVIE REVIEW: Venom

For the purpose to sell tickets, this proper villain is touted to be an response to the world having enough superheroes. The resulting film debunks its marketing by reducing Venom into a do-gooder and carnival attraction opposite of that claim. Never once does your heart pump a little quicker from tension. Never once do any hairs stand up in fright in the presence of what should be a complete badass. Those deficiencies shouldn’t happen with Venom.

If you follow my social media shingles, you know I can't stop and won't stop stumping for this film.  Searching is an incredible combination of innovative filmmaking, anxiety-inducing thrills, emotionally complex characters, and relevant commentary on the internet as both a danger and potential tool for good. Feelin' Film co-creator Aaron White and I were both floored by writer/director Aneesh Chaganty’s debut feature film and John Cho’s performance in it, so we sat down for a conversation about what makes the film so special.  Enjoy this excellent conversation with all the feels and kudos!

MEDIA APPEARANCE: Returning to "Black Panther" as a guest on the "Kicking the Seat" podcast

About six months ago, the unofficial "Comics Council" guest dais of Ian Simmons' Kicking the Seat podcast sung the praises of Ryan Coogler's Black Panther.  We knew then during that episode that we just watched something special that was going to explode and resonate with audiences beyond the multiplex.  Sure, enough we were right.  Ian, David Fowlie of Keeping It Reel, Emmanuel Noisette of E-Man's Movie Reviews, and myself made a pact then to revisit the film and expand on our first discussion.  Welcome to our returning second spin, this time collected via Skype, with the Wakandan King and all his victorious results.
